I’ve spent 20 years hunting, shooting, and thinking about self-defense — the kind of long-tenure, real-world experience a lot of CAT Outdoors readers will recognize in their own shooting lives. When I look at a rifle, a hunting optic, or a home defense setup, I’m thinking about whether it works in the field, on the stand, or at 2 AM when something goes wrong at home. That’s the filter.

My professional background is cinematography and photography. Over the past decade-plus I’ve worked as a Director, Producer, and Director of Photography on commercial, documentary, and editorial projects for clients including ESPN, Curiosity Stream, Danner Boots, and BendFilm. I’m also the Director, Producer, DP, and Editor behind 41 documentary episodes for American Warriors, a nonprofit dedicated to recording the stories of US military veterans — work that’s put me in conversation with WWII pilots, Korea and Vietnam vets, Desert Storm Marines, and post-9/11 combat veterans across every branch. At CAT Outdoors, I write product reviews focused on hunting, defensive rifles, and the gear most shooters actually use, and I run most of the site’s product photography and video. Good images show you what a product actually looks like. Good reviews tell you whether it works. Both matter.
