1. BEST GUN SAFE – SnapSafe Titan Digital Modular Safe

SnapSafe Titan Digital Modular Safe

Modular safes are ones that are shipped in pieces as a kit. If you’ve ever assembled a piece of IKEA furniture, this is a DIY chore you can definitely handle.
SnapSafe is one of the most respected brands making these types of safes, and we think the SS Titan is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a multi-use gun safe.

Why We Like It: Most larger long gun safes come as a big block of steel and you need a team of friends to help move it. That’s not the case at all with this safe. It ships in pieces and you can realistically assemble it with a partner in less than an hour. (You’ll probably need a helper because the pieces are hefty.)
The SS Titan model is specifically designed to fit inside a large closet. You can assemble it in there, shut the closet door, and none of your visitors will know you’ve got a gun safe in your home.
The Titan series has a capacity to hold 12-36 long guns, depending on which model you get, but there’s one thing you should know about all long gun safes. If the manufacturer says it holds “X amount of guns,” what that really means is that it holds “X amount of guns, so long as you don’t have optics, bipods, and other doohickies attached to your guns.”
Realistically, it will fit about 80% of the long guns it claims, plus a few sidearms and other gear or keepsakes.
The steel is rated to withstand a temperature of 2,300 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour. For perspective, the average house fire ranges between about 900 and 1,200 degrees F. The door gaskets are engineered to expand and create an air-tight seal when the outside of the safe heats up. It provides plenty of protection from heat, soot, and water once the fire department shows up.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: The door of the SS Titan (the 12 gun model) is recessed in the front panel of the safe, and it’s only 14.75” wide. We’d recommend keeping the go-to guns that you use most frequently in the center, and the ones that you use less often to the sides. Check out the SnapSafe double-doored safes if that seems too small for your needs.
The Bottom Line: If you ever plan to move, the SnapSafe Titan is easy to disassemble and put back together in your new home. It’s not so easy for thieves to crack into or move around. It’s 59” tall, 17” deep, and fairly heavy when empty. Good luck trying to get 475 pounds of awkward steel out of my closet, dirtbags!
2. BEST SINGLE PISTOL SAFE – RPNB Fingerprint Handgun Safe

RPNB Fingerprint Handgun Safe
There are a gazillion pistol safes on the market, so it’s impossible to choose a “best” option. Sometimes you just want quick access to a sidearm for home defense. This safe fits the bill.

Why We Like It: This is a mountable safe for a single handgun. It can be mounted underneath a desk, or from either side to a nightstand next to the bed. A biometric fingerprint scanner pops it open instantly with the gun in the ready position.
There’s also a keypad that you can program a 4- to 6-digit code to access it. It’s a battery-operated keypad and biometric scanner, obviously, so the safe also comes with a set of backup keys if all else fails.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: RPNB was relentlessly mocked when it was discovered that an earlier version of this pistol safe could be opened with literally any fingerprint. That problem has been corrected.
However, some users complain that if they put their thumb on the reader at the wrong angle, it still won’t open. That’s a weakness that many biometric safes still experience, so it’s not unusual. If you practice with it a few times, you should be able to easily avoid this problem.
The Bottom Line: Any standard 9mm pistol should fit perfectly in this safe. The fact that it can be mounted from multiple directions makes it a great choice for anyone who needs rapid access to a home defense gun.
3. BEST BIOMETRIC GUN SAFE – SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro Biometric Gun Safe

SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro Biometric Gun Safe
Biometric entry methods are kind of the way the gun safe industry is moving, whether we like it or not. If you’d prefer a biometric option, we highly recommend this Made in America option from SecureIt.

Why We Like It: The military-style design of this safe is what really stands out about it. It can hold up to six long guns that you’ll have fast, easy access to with the door open. Select the rifle you want and pull it straight out with no risk of dinging the optics or scratching it on the gun next to it. Grab it and go.
The back panel and the interior of the SecureIt Agile Model 52 offers a ton of customization options for storing sidearms, mags, and other gear. As for biometrics, you can program it for up to three different codes on the digital keypad or your fingerprint. It opens in a jiffy with a scan of your finger.
It’s not even vaguely fireproof or smokeproof. This is a safe for someone who wants rapid access for home defense and not much else.
We also like that there’s a low battery warning on the keypad. If the battery dies, you can power the keypad with an optional USB-C cord.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: This is an extremely lightweight safe for long guns. It only weighs 105 pounds when empty. Even one guy might be able to pack it out of your home in a bear hug. That being said, the Agile Model 52 has pre-drilled holes to attach it to the floor and the wall. We strongly recommend that you take the time to do so.
This is also a modular safe that you assemble once it arrives. The bad news is that the instruction manual sucks. The good news is that there aren’t that many pieces to fit together. You should be able to figure it out.
The Bottom Line: If you’re just looking for a lightweight safe to keep your long guns stored in, this is an excellent biometric option. It’s a breeze to open, your kids won’t be able to access it, and it gives you super-quick access to your favorite home defense tools.
4. BEST GUN SAFE FOR TRAVEL – Vaultek LifePod XR Standard Edition
It’s impossible to search gun forums online without tripping over references to Vaultek’s LifePod products. These portable handgun safes are wildly popular, and for good reasons.

Why We Like It: They’re airtight, they’re water-resistant, and they’ll float for a little while if you somehow accidentally drop the case in a lake. I’ve never tested this personally, for obvious reasons. The LifePod is easy to access for the owner and tough for someone else to break into.
These safes are also TSA-compliant. Just check with your airline to make sure everything is stored properly in it according to guidelines before heading to the airport. Security is likely to make you open it for an inspection before your flight.
We like the XR Standard Edition because it fits three pistols, extra mags, and ammo for travel. It’s like a gentleman’s briefcase, but for guns.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: Its biggest strength is also one of the LifePod’s only flaws. It’s extremely portable for you, and it could be for someone else if they grab it while it’s unsecured.
The Bottom Line: In the early days after 9/11, traveling by plane with a firearm became an extreme hassle. Understandably so. The LifePod was a compromise that the TSA and gun owners could live with. This safe is a great lifestyle upgrade if you want to travel and keep some personal defense items with you.
5. BEST HIDEAWAY GUN SAFE – SnapSafe Under Bed Safe

SnapSafe Under Bed Safe
If you’re looking for a space-saver that can be tucked out of the way, but that has a couple of home defense guns ready at a moment’s notice, we recommend this popular under-the-bed model from SnapSafe.

Why We Like It: Its flat design makes it perfect for installation underneath a bed or even a couch if it has enough clearance. Pre-drilled holes let you bolt it down and it also comes with a cable that lets you attach it to something sturdy.
It6comes in three sizes, but I’d go with the Large or the XXL. Either one of those has plenty of space for a tactical shotgun and/or a sidearm for home defense.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: The Under Bed safe weighs 150 pounds, so we strongly recommend bolting it down. Some users recommend keeping some defense guns in it when you’re at home, but transferring them to a more robust upright safe when you’re away.
The Bottom Line: When there’s a bump in the night, you don’t have to stumble around the bedroom to open up the closet and find a gun. This low-profile space saver makes a great backup safe that’s out of sight and out of the way.
6. BEST FOR QUICK-ACCESS: StopBox Pro Compact

StopBox Pro Compact
The StopBox Pro isn’t technically a safe, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But if you’re looking for lightning-fast access to your firearm without relying on electronics or keys, this innovative device absolutely deserves a spot in the conversation.

Why We Like It: Think of the StopBox Pro as a mechanical lockbox for your pistol, designed with muscle memory in mind. There are no batteries, no electronics, and no biometric gimmicks to fail when you need them most.
Instead, it uses a patented “tap code” that only you know – meaning you can open it instantly, in the dark, under stress, and without looking.

We like that it’s intuitive, silent, and fast once you’ve trained your fingers on the pattern. And since it’s not technically a safe, you don’t need to worry about complicated mounting setups or powering anything. Just toss it in your drawer, backpack, or nightstand and you’re good to go.
It’s made from a polycarbonate-ABS blend with aluminum reinforcements, so it’s far from flimsy. And yes, it’s made in the USA.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: Since it’s not a true safe, it’s not going to stop someone who’s determined and has time. A crowbar or angle grinder would make quick work of it. This is about access control, not long-term storage or theft prevention.
On that note, this should be paired with a traditional gun safe. Keep the StopBox Pro on your nightstand when you go to bed, and toss it in the hideaway safe when you leave to go to work.
Also, the tap code system does take a little practice. It’s not hard to learn, but it’s different. And some users might prefer more traditional security options. Think of it like learning a secret handshake with your gun.
The Bottom Line: If you want fast, mechanical access to your pistol without relying on electronics, the StopBox Pro is a slick, reliable tool to add to your nightstand or EDC loadout. It’s not Fort Knox—but it’s not trying to be. It’s for people who want speed, simplicity, and control in a compact, no-nonsense package.
7. BEST OPTION FOR GUN COLLECTORS: – Sportsman’s 50 Gun Safe by Liberty

Sportsman’s 50 Gun Safe by Liberty
Guns… Lots of guns!
If that describes your lifestyle, congrats! You’ll definitely want to check out the Sportsman’s 50 Gun Safe by Liberty.
Why We Like It: This is one of the newest safes on our list and it’s available exclusively at Sportsman’s Warehouse. Its cavernous interior really does have enough room for more than three-dozen long guns, along with space for nine handguns inside the door. There are also extra pouches inside the door and a couple of shelves above the long gun space for storing extra goodies.
Made with American craftsmanship and steel, this safe is rated for 60 minutes of fire protection. It also looks tough as hell to crack open.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: The safe weighs 942 pounds and Liberty will only ship it to your nearest Sportsman’s Warehouse store. Keep that in mind when you have to arrange to bring it home.
The interior of the safe can bet a bit crowded when it’s full of long guns, especially with optics.
The Bottom Line: If security for your guns is a top priority and you have a larger collection than the average gun owner, this will be a tough safe to beat.
8. BEST LONG GUN SAFE – Stealth Safes Essential 14 Gun Safe

Stealth Safes Essential 14 Gun Safe
Stealth Safes makes a range of high-quality and stylish gun safes with a slim profile that’s easy situate anywhere in the home.
Why We Like It: You can easily store a combination of six rifles and shotguns in the EGS14 with room to spare. It will hold 14 thanks to the adjustable gun rack, but as always, the amount of attachments on your long guns can make it a tight fit.
We also like the Molle door panel organizer that comes with it. You can hang additional sidearms, mag pouches, and other storage pockets from it.
This safe is made from 14-gauge steel and has six solid steel locking bolts in the door (not easy to crack). It has a high security electronic lock and pre-drilled bolt down holes.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: Stealth Safes makes high-quality merchandise, but it doesn’t have the highest fire safety standards. This safe is rated to withstand 1,200 degrees for 30 minutes.
Then again, fire safety probably gets too much attention when it comes to gun safe design. Only 0.002% of homes are involved in structure fires each year, while the burglary rate is more like 0.82%.
In other words, you’re more than 400 times as likely to have your home burglarized than you are to have it burn down. Something to keep in mind when shopping for gun safes.
The Bottom Line: If you have a modest collection of rifles and shotguns, this is a good choice for storing them safely. Stealth Safes are stylishly covered with armored black paint and come with a lifetime warranty for burglary and fire.
9. BEST OLD-TIMEY GUN SAFE – Browning 1878 Fire Resistant Gun Safe

Browning 1878 Fire Resistant Gun Safe
Butch and Sundance would have needed a lot more dynamite to crack this puppy open. There’s just something about the “Old West” style of a traditional, tried-and-true gun safe.
Why We Like It: The 1878 commemorates the year that the legendary Browning Ams Company was founded. This safe is a beast!
It makes a statement, and that statement is, “I have a big gun collection and I take it seriously.” Its modular shelving system lets you customize the huge interior to your liking. Browning’s “Scope Saver” feature inside the door provides up to four gun racks that can accommodate larger optics without taking up more space.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: This is the brawniest safe on our list, clocking in at 1,070 pounds. Whether that’s a flaw or a benefit is up to you. On the one hand, the most dedicated team of meth addicts is never going to wrestle the 1878 out of your mancave. On the other, if you ever decide to switch residences, your movers will hate you forever.
The Bottom Line: Browning has been making safes for a long time and they really know what they’re doing. If you don’t mind putting down the cash for it and have a permanent spot to situate it, this traditional safe will last your lifetime and then some.
Final Thoughts on the Best Gun Safes
If we had to choose just one, our top recommendation is still the SnapSafe Titan Digital Modular Safe. It’s secure, fire-rated, modular, and delivers the best mix of features for the price. Whether you’re building out your first home defense setup or upgrading from a basic lockbox, this safe hits the sweet spot.
That said, we know different shooters have different priorities. Want fast biometric access? Check out the SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro. Need something compact and travel-ready?
