About
I joined CAT Outdoors as Editor two years ago, coming in with 16 years of professional writing and editing behind me — print magazine bylines at Geek Out, freelance work for Engaged Media in California, technical copywriting for AI research at Appen Butler Hill, and content writing work that ranged across music, science and technology, pop culture, healthcare, and U.S. foreign policy. Writing is the part of the job I trained for. UW-Parkside, cum laude, English with a Writing Concentration.
My job at CAT is editorial oversight on every review and guide we publish. If a claim can’t be backed up, I flag it. If a sentence could say less and say it better, I rewrite it. If a reader would walk away unsure of the answer, we haven’t finished the article yet. My firearms background is recreational — range shooting and a home defense setup, not certifications or tactical training. I’m the person who asks the questions a thoughtful buyer would ask, and I work with Justin, Jeff, and Brad to make sure the answers are worth the reader’s time.
